The other day, we were out and about and waiting in line to get a sandwich. C was with us. A woman and a man were in front of us and commented to each other “Oh look, a baby with glasses.” And, as they were leaving the counter, they made another comment (which I cannot recall) to each other about C. These were not bad comments, but I find it amazing that people can have no manners as to talk about other people in front of them like they were not there! If you must, whisper between yourselves. Or, come out to talk to us and comment how cute our baby looks!
S and I discussed this later on. We really didn’t know what to say at the time these instances happened as if there is anything to say.

It’ll be almost one week since I gave my resignation at work. I still wonder if it is the right choice. When I play with C and think about the activities we’ll do and the time we’ll spend together, the answer is a wholeheartedly “yes.” But, I am not a risky person – there is that unknown factor about future finances that is scary – what if something unplanned happens? Will it be hard for me to go find another job?
Granted, my current job has been extremely flexible, allowing me to work from home almost every day except for one day a week when I go into the office to meet with my manager. I work with folks from London, Beijing, Hong Kong so the flexibility is great – I can be up at 5am when C is up and respond to email and not have to wait 24 hours to get a response from other countries. Will my next job be this flexible? I doubt it.
I have always worked and put 110 percent into my job. I will just have to approach being a stay at home mom as a new “job” (one that I love) and do the best I can, and the reward will be personal instead of monetary.
I will probably just need that reassurance every now and then that I’ve made the right decision for the family!

I love to read. I read whenever I get a chance.
Around November of 2007, I saw an article in Newsweek about a gadget called the Kindle. It was made and sold through Amazon. I like technology so this e-reader captured my interest. I read the article and went online to read reviews and discussion forums. It costs 399.00 so I held off buying it. S got it for me as a birthday surprise a few months later!
I love it. After C was born, I didn’t have much time to browse / purchase books. I’m also the kind of reader who likes to browse through books and if the writing captures my interest, I’ll buy the book. With the Kindle, I am reading a lot again.
I can download samples of books from Amazon wirelessly to my Kindle. 24×7. 365 days a year.
I can buy books from Amazon via my computer or directly from the Kindle. Wirelessly. 24×7. 365 days a year. With one click, my credit card gets charged or my gift card balance gets debited.
I don’t generally re-read books again so now I don’t have a lot of books lying around the house.
Most importantly, I can read and turn pages sitting anywhere while holding the Kindle in one hand and C in the other. No more needing a table or wishing I had three hands! And, no page rustling noise when I’m holding C for a nap. Because of this, I’m reading more and I’m loving it!
I love my Kindle!
