I finished reading The Ten-Year Nap by Meg Wolitzer. My husband had seen this book on Amazon, and thought I’d be interested in it. It’s about 4 friends who left their jobs for motherhood. Ah, something I’m about to do and thought it’d be a good read.
I couldn’t really get into the storyline or plot. It seemed that each of the main characters had insecurities and never really wanted to stay at home in the first place. After 10 years, they all questioned their choices, and they all had some issues with their husbands. Each character with the exception of one did not like her life. The book also jumped back and forth quite a bit. And, once in a while, a short chapter popped up about one of the main character’s mother or father. I couldn’t see the purpose of those chapters – they broke up the flow of the story for me. It’s too bad that the book was not a “win” for me – it did get decent reviews on Amazon.
Now, I’m off to look for another book to read. I hope S will continue to let me know of books he thinks I may like

I’ve heard of that book! I’m glad you explained what you didn’t like about it, it sounds like the type of thing that would annoy me too. Saves me wasted reading time, thanks!
If you need a good book and aren’t afraid to delve into the would of Young Adult Lit, try “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyers. If you’ve been to Barnes N Noble lately, you’ve seen the cover…you know, black with two white hands holding a red apple. YES, it’s vampire romance, but the story is well written and very compelling. (And it’s being made into a movie!) I honestly couldn’t put it or the two sequels down. I mentioned it to my adult bookclub and after they made fun of me for a good 20 minutes, three other people admitted to reading and loving it. So, if you need a good read, enjoy!
