Warm Tortillas with Salsa

July 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This week’s Works-For-Me Wednesday is about simple recipes using 5 ingredients or less.  Well, since I’m trying to be a better cook and I haven’t cooked much in the past, I don’t really have a lot of recipes of my own to write about!

However, the other day, I found a great use for some leftover tortillas we had….

I love chips and dip, especially salsa.   But, too many chips isn’t a good thing.   So, here’s a quick way to get your chips and dip, but with tortillas instead.

  • Package of tortillas
  • Homemade salsa (tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, onions, peppers) or any store bought salsa
  1. Heat up a frying pan and place a tortilla on it.   Leave on the pan until the tortilla is hot or if you like, wait until the tortilla is browned.
  2. Remove from the frying pan and cut into quarters.   Repeat with each tortilla.
  3. Serve with the salsa.

If you get low-fat tortillas, this can be healthy.  We have a local Mexican restaurant that serves warm tortillas with freshly made guacamole.  Yummy also!

Check out more 5 ingredients or less recipes on this Works-For-Me Wednesday at “Rocks in My Dryer.”   I’ll be browsing for recipes to try for my “entree of the week” selection!
