I love adding text and different effects to my digital photos to use for special thank you cards, birthday cards, and just overall fun. It adds a personal touch. Here are some things I’ve done:
- Edited a photo of C with a personal greeting on it and added a “frame”. I printed this out in a small size and adhered it to the inside of a blank card. Voila! If it’s a thank you card, I take a photo of C with the gift and use that. I did this for her Christmas gifts and for her birthday gifts.
- Edited and printed a bunch of photos and put one word (of a sentence) in each photo. I hid the photos around the house for S to find. His sentence yesterday was “Happy Birthday To You Daddy!!!.”
I started doing this with a super easy on-line tool that I first discovered with Flicker which is an online photo sharing site we use. The tool is called Picnik. Flickr incorporates Picnik, but I’ve since realized that I can go to www.picnik.com and edit my photos there. Just upload a photo, go to the edit tab to crop the photo, etc, or go to the create tab to add text, frames, effects. Then, I save the photo back to my computer. I don’t even need to register or sign-in. And, there are some cool effects like cinematic theme and even converting a photo into a sketch!
And, this is all free from what I’ve seen so far. Check it out if you want to get creative with all the photos you’ve taken.
* Note that I am not affiliated with Picnik or Flickr. I just love using these tools.
